There is a widespread thought that if you want to build
muscles you need to take protein supplement. Very few know that we have so many
tonics in ayurveda which strengthens not just your muscles but your bones and
nerves, all at a time. Ayurveda says our body consists of 7 kinds of component.
They are RAS,RAKT ,MAAMS,MED,ASTHI,MAZZA and SHUKRA.
Whatever food you eat, gets divided into two parts after
digestion. First is SAAR, which means the extract or the essence of the food which is absorbed
by the body. Second is KITTA, which means anything other than SAAR or waste
like sweat, urine, stool etc. When this SAAR is digested the first component
forms is RAS.
RAS : It is responsible to nourish other 6 components of the
body. It appears like water and responsible for menstrual period in ladies,
controls the body hormones. It relates to KAFA. Further digestion of RAS forms RAKT.
RAKT : This is blood and responsible for increment and destruction
of other components. It relates to PITTA. Further digestion of RAKT forms MAMSA.
MAMSA : This forms our muscles. Its 41% of the body’s
weight. It gives strength and stability to the body. Further digestion of MAMSA
forms MEDA.
MEDA : This is fat. It is responsible for lubrication of the
brain and body which is very essential. Further digestion of MEDA forms ASTHI.
ASTHI : This is bone
and forms the structure of the body. Because of ASTHI ,our internal organs
which are delicate ,get protection.
MAZZA : Then comes MAZZA which forms the internal space of
the bones. It carries nervous system and gives strength to the bones . It also
nourishes SHUKRA dhatu. It is related to your eyes and brain as well.
SHUKRA : Last thing in the list is SHUKRA. SHUKRA is your
semen or sperm or your sexual hormone. It provides strength and energy to the
body and endows you with good emotions like power, excitement, joy etc. It is
responsible for reproduction.
Ayurveda do not focus on one component nourishment whereas
entire body strength. All the 7 components mentioned above. Terms mentioned
above like Vaata,Pitta and Kafa will be discussed in detail later. They
actually are the pillars for ayurveda. You might have heard so many cases where
big muscle builders got bone problems
which ruined their lives.
So the ayurvedic
tonic one can take which nourishes all the 7 components of the body can be made
with three simple ingredients in equal quantity. 1. Amla Powder 2. Giloy Powder
3. Gokhru
AMLA or Gooseberry is cold for the body and keeps away aging. GILOY is hot for your body and boosts immunity. GOKHRU is cold to the body and keep the urinary system related diseases at bay.
Take a spoon full of it after breakfast and dinner and enjoy a life full of health,vitality and strength.
Keep in mind that the herbs which are said to be hot for the body in ayurveda, increases the blood circulation and might not wok good for the high BP patients but this tonic is balanced with two cold herbs as well.
